Watch- Mohammad Amir Confirms His Choice Between IPL And PSL

Mohammad Amir, a talented Pakistan pacer, has once again spoken about his choice if he gets picked in both IPL and PSL. Amir recently made a significant announcement shortly before the PSL 2025 season began. The left-arm bowler said that if he is granted UK citizenship, he would rather play in the IPL than the PSL the next season.

Mohammad Amir is currently playing for Quetta Gladiators in the 10th edition of the PSL 2025 tournament. The former Pakistan cricketer could be eligible to play in the Indian Premier League next year through his UK citizenship.

Mohammad Amir picks IPL over PSL

If the IPL and PSL were held at the same time, the following season, Mohammad Amir was recently asked if he would want to play in either competition. The pacer with the left arm answered bluntly. If given the chance, Amir stated that he would like to play in the IPL.

"If the PSL happens in the same window as the IPL, and as a British citizen, you're eligible for the IPL, would you choose the IPL?" Amir was asked.

“Honestly, if I get the opportunity, I'll play in the IPL. I'm saying this openly. But if I don't get a chance, then I will play in the PSL,” Amir said.

Mohammad Amir again chooses between PSL and IPL

Amir was once again asked in an interview which T20 league he would pick- Pakistan Super League or Indian Premier League, if given the chance.

Amir gave a very clever answer this time and refused to pick one league straightforwardly. He stated that he doesn’t think both leagues will clash next year in 2026, like they are doing this year. He stated that both leagues- IPL and PSL- have started to ban players if they pull out after getting picked.

He said that now it depends on which league he gets picked/sold in. PSL conducts a player draft, while IPL has been conducting a players’ auction since its initiation. So Amir stated that if he gets sold in the IPL 2026 auction, he will play in the IPL. Or else, if he gets picked in the PSL draft first, he will play in the PSL.
