MS Dhoni's future in cricket has once again been a heated question, particularly given how well he has performed in the IPL 2025. Amid mounting speculation over Dhoni's retirement from the IPL, a podcast starring the former CSK captain has gone viral on social media.

The Chennai Super Kings suffered their third consecutive loss in IPL 2025. They were outplayed by the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, April 5. Rumors regarding MS Dhoni's retirement circulated before the match, particularly after his parents were spotted at the stadium.

CSK in big trouble

Chasing 184, the Super Kings crumbled early, losing half their team for only 74 runs. MS Dhoni stepped in at No. 7 amid loud acclaim from the Chepauk fans, which included his daughter Ziva and parents, who were in the grandstand.

During the run chase, Dhoni and Vijay Shankar combined for an unbroken 84 runs off 57 balls for the sixth wicket. Shankar hit 69* off 54 balls, while Dhoni was not out on 30 off 26. CSK finished at 158/5, and Delhi won their third consecutive game.

Dhoni has scored 76 runs from 55 balls for the Super Kings in four IPL 2025 matches, with his highest score of 30.

“My body will decide when..”- MS Dhoni speaks on his retirement plans

MS Dhoni was asked about his retirement from the IPL during a podcast interview with Raj Shamani. Dhoni stated that he has no plans to retire from the event and will take things one year at a time.

MS Dhoni stated that he will make a decision on his future after the current season ends. He stated that it is not only about his own preference, but also how his body responds. The wicketkeeper-batsman stated that he is concentrating on the current IPL season.

"I have kept it very simple, I am still playing IPL. I am only focused on what needs to be done right now, he expressed. I am taking it one year at a time. I am 43 now and will be 44 in July by the time IPL ends."

"So I have 10 months to decide whether I will play one more year or not. It's not me deciding, it's the body that tells you whether you can or cannot. So one year at a time, fully focused on what needs to be done right now," Dhoni said on his podcast.
