The famed Serena Hotel in Islamabad, where all the PSL (Pakistan Super League) franchise teams are being stationed, caught fire on Friday (11th April). Since Babar Azam and all of the franchise's players are stationed there, this is a huge development.

The enormous fire started on the top floor of the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, according to the district administration spokeswoman. However, the hotel's emergency procedures were triggered right away. After that, the skilled emergency response crew put out the fire.

All players of every PSL franchise are in danger at the Serena hotel fire

Eight fire department vehicles were on the scene as soon as the fire started, and the situation was brought under control, according to the district administration spokesperson. He added that everyone on the crew is safe and that the hotel's conditions have returned to normal.

They were evacuated as a precaution, and none of the visitors or employees, including Pakistan Super League players and employees, were hurt. Additionally, there were traffic problems because the surrounding region was roped off.

"The fire erupted on the top floor of the five-star hotel. Eight fire brigade vehicles reached the spot to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no damage to the property or the staff has been reported," said the spokesperson of the district administration.

Pakistan Super League CEO confirms no harm to any of the players

Pakistan Super League CEO Salman Naseer confirmed to Samaa TV that none of the players of any of the six franchises were harmed and everyone is safe.

Pakistan Super League CEO Salman Naseer told Samaa TV, “None of the players or franchises faced any difficulties. The fire was extinguished on time. It did not spread to the interior of the hotel. The fire brigade teams launched their operation to extinguish the fire promptly.”

CDA Director of Emergency Zafar Iqbal said, “Six firefighting vehicles and 50 firefighters participated in the operation to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished within half an hour.”

Islamabad and Lahore played the 1st game

The season opener between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars takes place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday. The victors of the upcoming season will get a trophy and USD 500,000 in prize money. In the meantime, USD 200,000 will be awarded to the runners-up.

“The six teams will also be locking horns to take away the USD 500,000 prize money set for the winners, while the runners-up team will be awarded USD 200,000,” the PCB said in a statement.

The 34-match Pakistan Super League 2025 season is set to take place between April 11 and May 18.
