Ravichandran Ashwin, during a live broadcast on his YouTube account, urged a panelist to stop when the subject of MS Dhoni was brought up. This followed the off-spinner's declaration that his station would not broadcast Chennai Super Kings games during IPL 2025.
Since his retirement, Ashwin has been increasingly active on YouTube. Additionally, it has generated controversy, particularly about his IPL side, the Chennai Super Kings. These problems have garnered criticism and attention. Stephen Fleming, the head coach of CSK, also discussed the YouTube channel.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel and the CSK controversy
After former South Africa and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pundit Prasanna Agoram questioned CSK's decision to play Noor Ahmad despite already having seasoned spinners like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel became the subject of criticism.
Ashwin stopped covering Chennai Super Kings content for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League after this conversation caused outrage. He affirmed that this season, his channel would no longer offer CSK match previews or reviews.
"Given the nature of the discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season," Ashwin said in a note.
Ravichandran Ashwin shushes a panelist when he mentions MS Dhoni
Ravichandran Ashwin just analyzed the most recent IPL 2025 matches on his YouTube channel, omitting the current Chennai Super Kings games. One panelist brought up MS Dhoni and other captains throughout the conversation.
When Dhoni's name was mentioned, Ashwin cut off the panelist.
"Your victory in the match makes me very delighted. The only thing is that you have a lot of experience leading the squad, Ashwin. The TNPL has been won by the team you led. In my opinion, leadership is quite significant. That leader is someone like Thala Dhoni, Shreyas Iyer, or Sanju," the panelists stated.
Ashwin responded to the panelist's remarks by saying, "Sshhh. Ssshhhh."
"No, you shouldn't speak first. I am able to speak. I am a member of the audience," the panelist said.

Ravichandran Ashwin's bad form caused the Chennai Super Kings to remove him from their starting lineup. In six games, the 38-year-old had claimed only five wickets at an average of 39.60 and an economy rate of around 10.
After their first victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI), CSK had lost five straight games. They defeated LSG by five wickets to snap the losing streak. With just two victories from seven games, they are currently at the bottom of the table.
