One of the biggest advantages for the Indian side in the ongoing edition of the Champions Trophy 2025 was their five spinners in the side, whom captain Rohit Sharma used beautifully on the slow and low surfaces of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are two premier all-rounders of the side.

As Rohit or coach Gautam Gambhir mentioned in the presser, the management is portraying the team’s combination as two quality spinners and two spin all-rounders. Ravindra Jadeja was one of the shining products for the national side in the Champions Trophy.

The blue brigade sent Cooper Connolly back into the hut as the left-handed opening batter had no idea of where to nail Mohammad Shami around the park. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed aggressive-looking Travis Head before Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne put on a fifty-run stand for the third wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja broke the stand as Labuschagne could not read the straight ball. The ball drifted into the leg stump on a good length and skidded after pitching. Marnus went back to nudge and missed the ball as he was rapped on the pads, and the umpire had no doubt in raising his finger.

Three overs later, Josh Inglis went back and punched the length delivery straight into the hands of the cover fielder. The ball stopped a bit, but the wicket-keeper couldn’t keep the ball down as Virat Kohli grabbed a simple catch to put more pressure on the batter.

Ravindra Jadeja finished with figures of 2/40 in eight overs at an economy rate of five with one maiden.

During one of the overs in the first innings, the Gujarat-born reckoned that the ball was not spinning much before Rohit advised the bowler to take a slip in the last three balls of the over. But KL Rahul interfered in between and reckoned that the ball hadn’t spun at all.

Later, Jadeja teased the two veterans by saying that Rohit and Rahul could keep on interacting between them, and he could use the time to end the over.

“The wicket is better than the last game, not much spin. We need to start well. If we play sensible cricket in the first 10 overs, then there won't be any issues. Smith and Labuschagne were batting nicely, and I tried to attack the stumps. Luckily, we were able to contain the runs and picked a few wickets as well.Ravindra Jadeja expressed at the end of the first innings.

Rahul and Iyer contributed with 40-odd runs each, while Hardik Pandya cracked 28 aggressive runs.

Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on two runs in one ball. The 2013 title winners will wait for a day to know their opponent in the final, which will take place on March 09 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
