Riyan Parag, interim captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025, was left stunned as a fan breached security at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati to invade the field and touch his feet. The incident happened during RR’s IPL 2025 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday, March 26.

In his native Assam, Riyan Parag made his debut as captain of the Rajasthan Royals. A finger injury kept regular captain Sanju Samson out of the starting lineup for the first three games. Samson was an opening batsman for RR in this match as well as their first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Even though Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, won the toss, Riyan got the greatest applause. Parag played a part with the bat and the ball.

Before being removed in the eighth over, the right-handed batter amassed 25 runs off 15 balls, including three sixes. Varun Chakaravarthy was hit by a hard shot that Parag missed. After scoring only four runs off two balls in the opening match, this was his second lackluster IPL 2025 effort.

Alongside Sri Lankans Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga, Parag bowled four overs with the ball as the team's third spin option. Fans, however, have criticized him for his inconsistent batsmanship.

RR was asked to bat first by KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, and they struggled to put 151/9 on the board. Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswa,l and Riyan Parag made notable contributions.

In response, KKR overhauled the target with little issue as Quinton de Kock made 97* and won the game with 8 wickets.

While the Kolkata Knight Riders were chasing 152 runs, a fan broke through security and went onto the field in the direction of Riyan Parag. Parag was getting ready to bowl when the incident happened, right before the twelfth over.

When Quinton de Kock, who was on strike, saw the invader, he withdrew. Before security guards stepped in and removed him from the field, the fan approached Parag, touched his feet, and hugged him.

It was IPL 2025's second pitch invasion incident. Earlier, during the Eden Gardens tournament opening between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a fan broke through security to approach Virat Kohli. For the rest of the IPL season, that supporter was prohibited from entering the stadium.
