Mumbai Indians shared a glimpse of their version of MS Dhoni in Jharkhand’s own Robin Minz ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Minz was in the news in 2024 after being bought by Gujarat Titans, but a motorbike accident robbed him of a chance to play in the Indian Premier League that year.
Minz was signed by Gujarat Titans for a whopping amount of INR 3.6 crore. However, he broke his leg in a bike accident soon after the auction and was bed-ridden. He didn't play a game after being ruled out of the whole IPL 2024 season.
Mumbai Indians parted ways with Ishan Kishan ahead of the auction and in search of an Indian wicketkeeper, at the IPL 2025 auction, paid INR 65 lakh to sign Robin Minz. He had a starting price of INR 30 lakh when he entered the auction. He has potential as a future player, even if he doesn't have much experience playing domestic T20 cricket.
Robin Minz showcases his incredible hitting prowess
Ahead of the forthcoming Indian Premier League season, Robin Minz looked in outstanding batting form. The Mumbai Indians acquired the young Jharkhandi batsman-wicketkeeper at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
When he got to the nets, he hit every ball in the park. Robin Minz imitated the legendary MS Dhoni, who is also from Jharkhand, in one of his strokes. Minz didn't even glance at the ball as he hammered a six towards the leg-side.
He played several striking shots in addition to this one, and he appeared to be blending them all together. During the net session, the left-hander showed off his entire range of strokes, and the balls traveled far after being struck.

Mumbai Indians to open their campaign against CSK in IPL 2025
The Mumbai Indians' IPL 2025 opener against the Chennai Super Kings is scheduled for March 23 in Chennai. The opponent for Robin Minz will be MS Dhoni, who served as his inspiration. Both MI and CSK are the most successful teams in the league's history and have won the IPL five times.
But in recent years, the Mumbai Indians haven't played at their best. In 2020, they won their most recent championship while Rohit Sharma was captain. Under Hardik Pandya, they finished bottom in the points table the previous season, and this year they hope to improve.
