In addition to being a fierce competitor on the field, MI's experienced cricketer Rohit Sharma is also a close buddy to both his teammates and the opposing side off the field. Following their IPL 2025 game, the former MI captain was gushing about LSG's bowling all-rounder, Shardul Thakur.

Rohit Sharma praised his close friend Shardul Thakur in front of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka following the team's victory over the Mumbai Indians in Lucknow. His remarks went viral on social media after being captured on tape.

Shardul was instrumental in the Lucknow Super Giants' triumph. He nearly won the game for his team with a brilliant penultimate over that went for just seven runs.

33 runs were scored in his first three overs, but he only gave up 7 runs in his last over. When Shardul came to bowl, Pandya and Santner were at the crease, and the Mumbai Indians needed 29 runs off 12 balls. But his overture made the difference for LSG.

Ravi Bishnoi was excellently stationed at deep backward square leg, where Shardul Thakur had already taken the significant wicket of Ryan Rickelton earlier in his opening stint.

“You have lord Shardul”- Rohit Sharma tells LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka

Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG, was spotted applauding his squad after the game and even interacting with a few of the opposing players. Goenka turned to face Rohit Sharma when he noticed him standing next to Shardul Thakur.

In the video, Rohit gave Thakur, who was standing next to him, the highest praise possible. Thakur grinned as Rohit spoke these words on his behalf.

Rohit, on the other hand, was cheerful and gave Shardul compliments. "Sir, why worry when you have Lord?"

LSG defeated MI by 12 runs in a thrilling encounter

Batting first on a surface that offered some assistance to the bowlers, LSG scored 203-8. The Super Giants had outstanding starts from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. Markram hit 53 off 38 deliveries, while Marsh scored 60 off 31 balls.

Rishabh Pant scored another modest score, and the middle order didn't contribute anything. To help their side reach a high score, Ayush Badoni and David Miller made quick knocks lower in the order. Hardik Pandya, the captain of MI, ended with his best IPL and T20 figures of 5/36.

Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav helped the Mumbai Indians recover after losing two early wickets in the reply. Digvesh Rathi hit to grab Dhir just when they were both appearing to be really at ease at the crease.

Hardik Pandya at the crease kept MI ahead even after Suryakumar Yadav was removed for a solid 67 off 43 balls. But the game was decided for Lucknow by two outstanding last-over bowled by Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur.
