Ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League, Shashank Singh has made a bold claim: PBKS will be in the top two teams and will undoubtedly win this season.

The hero of the Punjab Kings believes that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have no chance at all of defending their IPL championship.

Shashank picks IPL 2025 top 4

"KKR's 2024 IPL-winning captain is on the Punjab side, which is why he kept the team on top," the batting all-rounder said, adding that he is convinced they will dominate this season. If the PBKS didn't place first, he threatened to put up with all the trolling.

Shashank picked the top four teams in the IPL 2025, and they are PBKS, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and either Mumbai Indians (MI) or Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be the top four teams in the tournament.

In his 25 IPL games thus far, Shashank has scored 423 runs at an average of over 35 and a strike rate of over 161 in 19 innings, with his top score being 68*. He has played for the Indian Premier League's Sunrisers Hyderabad (2022), Rajasthan Royals (2019–21), and Delhi Daredevils (2017).

Shashank Singh reveals Punjab Kings’ power-packed XI for IPL 2025 opener

However, he played ten games for SRH after making his IPL 2022 debut before moving to PBKS. In the biggest T20 competition in the globe, he played 14 games for the Punjab team but was not given a chance to play for Rajasthan or Delhi.

For the Punjab Kings' (PBKS) opening game in the forthcoming IPL 2025, Shashank Singh has announced his starting lineup. The season opener between the Gujarat Titans and the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings is scheduled on March 25 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shashank selected a well-rounded playing XI for the Punjab Kings against the host Gujarat Titans, including a combination of power hitters, seasoned all-rounders, and a strong bowling attack, according to Shubhankar Mishra's podcast.

For stability, the batting all-rounder kept Shreyas Iyer, the captain of PBKS, at number three. While Nehal Wadhera and Shashank himself offer finishing strength in the batting department, Australian all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell will supply firepower in the middle.

The seasoned team of Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar will lead the spin department, while South African pace wonder Marco Jansen and Indian star Arshdeep Singh will spearhead the right-handed batter's pace attack. He chose Kuldeep Sen or Yash Thakur to be the 12th man.

Shashank Singh’s Punjab Kings XI for the first IPL 2025 match:

Josh Inglis, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Marco Jansen, Harpreet Singh Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
