Suddenly, after reaching his maiden IPL century for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma pulled a mystery note out of his pocket and showed it to the fans. The Punjab Kings captain, Shreyas Iyer’s reaction went viral on social media after reading the note.

Both Abhishek and Travis Head were under tremendous pressure to provide the runners-up of the last season a better start with the bat, especially in the powerplay. The Punjab-born came into the tournament with just 51 runs in five innings at an average of 10.20 and a strike rate of just around 120.

From the very first ball of the innings, Abhishek Sharma made his intentions clear to go after the bowlers. He nailed Marco Jansen for a first-ball boundary before smashing the left-arm pacer for three successive boundaries in the same over.

The southpaw was playing most of his shots down the ground and hardly aimed to keep it down. When the spinners were tossing it up in the air, he cleared his front foot and smashed it out of the ground with full power.

After taking a single on 99, Abhishek Sharma took a single and roared to celebrate his maiden century in the Indian Premier League. So, he brought the note out of his pocket and showed it to the fans. But Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer was curious about the message. He took it out of the batter and read it with a smile on his face.

“This one is for the Orange Army,” The batter wrote in the note.

At the end of the game, Abhishek Sharma accepted that they were under pressure, going into the contest with four successive defeats in the season, far to be in the last position of the points table before the fixture. But he reckoned that he always had believed in doing well for the fans.

“I wrote it today itself because I usually wake up and write something. I got a random thought that if I do something today, that will be for the Orange Army. Luckily, today, I felt it was my day.The left-handed batter expressed this during the press conference.

“If you've seen me close enough, I never play anything behind the wicket, but I was still trying a few shots because they had a pretty good plan for us outside off.He added.

However, Travis Head’s words gave a different view of the entire story. In the host broadcaster’s interview at the end of the game, the Australian all-rounder pointed out that Abhishek had been carrying the same note in his pocket from the beginning of the tournament.

“The note has been in the pocket of Abhishek Sharma for six games. (I am) Glad it came out tonight.Head spilled the beans to Star Sports.

Sunrisers Hyderabad move to eighth position with an eight-wicket victory

Sunrisers Hyderabad, losing the toss, leaked 66 runs for Punjab’s opening stand in four overs. The visiting captain, Shreyas Iyer, clubbed 82 runs in 36 balls, shouldering on six boundaries and as many sixes at a strike rate of 227.78. Later, Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 34 runs in 11 balls pulled them to 245/6 in 20 overs.

The home side went off to a flying start in the chase, thanks to the 171-run opening stand. Abhishek Sharma celebrated 141 runs in just 55 deliveries, scoring 14 boundaries and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 256.36. They chased down the target with eight wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.
