Tim Seifert of New Zealand made a mockery of Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Shaheen Afridi during the second T20I of the five-match series between the two sides. Tim Seifert smashed Shaheen Afridi for 26 runs in one over during the match at the University Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday, March 18.
Michael Bracewell, the captain of New Zealand, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. After being brought in to bat, Pakistan experienced an early defeat. This is the second time in the series that they have lost opener Hasan Nawaz for a duck.
Before captain Salman Agha arrived at the crease, they were having trouble at 19-2 in the fourth over. With 46 off 28, striking four fours and three sixes, Salman assisted the team in rallying.
Shaheen Shah Afridi stayed undefeated with 22 off 14, while Shadab Khan produced an aggressive knock of 26 off 14 balls in the middle order.
Four bowlers each took two wickets for New Zealand. Another influence came from Jimmy Neesham and Ben Sears, who were called up in lieu of Tim Robinson and Kyle Jamieson.
New Zealand makes a mockery of the below-par total
Tim Seifert and Finn Allen gave New Zealand a quick start in the chase in the rain-shortened game. Seifert (45 in 22 balls) and Allen (38 in 16 balls) added 66 runs in 4.4 overs, despite Seifert playing the first over of the Kiwi innings a maiden.
In the middle overs, Pakistan quickly took wickets, bringing New Zealand down to 97/4. Nevertheless, Pakistan was unable to win the victory due to the late wickets. With almost ten balls remaining, Bracewell's home team prevailed by five wickets.
Tim Seifert’s crazy hitting against Shaheen Afridi in the second T20I
During the opening over, Tim Seifert was troubled by Shaheen Afridi's bowling. In his opening over, he gave up no runs. But it was in the third over that Seifert unleashed his fury. The right-hander hit consecutive sixes to start the over. With the next two deliveries, Shaheen gave up just two runs.
But from the penultimate ball of the over, the 30-year-old batsman hit another six over deep mid-wicket. He milked 26 runs off Afridi with another six to end the over. Despite giving up a maiden in the first over of the run chase, the Black Caps managed to score 50 runs in the first three overs.
