After the India National Cricket Team raised the trophy for the record third time at the crowded Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (March 9), Virat Kohli repeatedly turned down calls to duplicate his famous 2013 ICC Champions Trophy ‘Gangnam Style’ dance celebration.

A teenage Virat Kohli offered fans a memorable experience twelve years ago when, during India's Champions Trophy celebration in England in 2013, he performed push-ups and danced to Gangnam Style in front of his teammates.

With an exciting five-run victory over England, the MS Dhoni-led India National Cricket Team won the trophy, making it a happy occasion. Many people wanted Kohli to repeat that achievement in Dubai when the Men in Blue upset New Zealand by four wickets to win the Champions Trophy.

In fact, following the title victory in Dubai, Harshit Rana, an Indian fast bowler, performed the famous 'Gangnam Style' motion with Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja.

However, the right-hander shook his hands and folded them when Star Sports host Jatin Sapru asked the former Indian captain to perform his famous celebration.

When the whole team, including the coaching staff and a BCCI official, was posing for the trophy, Harshit Rana asked Kohli to join him in recreating his famous "Gangnam Style" celebration; Virat once again declined.

The former captain of India initially ignored Rana and Arshdeep Singh before kindly declining by holding his ears and folding his hands. Kohli still found it entertaining to watch the young fast bowlers celebrate, though. But this time, while the Indian cricket players celebrated with the trophy, Shreyas Iyer displayed his dancing prowess.

However, the 36-year-old batting superstar didn’t let the fans down during the grand celebrations at Dubai International Stadium, as he showed off his bhangra moves and even played 'dandiya' with captain Rohit Sharma after the team's historic win.

After winning his fourth ICC title, Kohli talked candidly about his feelings and whether they were the same as they were after he won his first trophy. In his remarkable career to date, he has won the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2011 ODI World Cup. But as captain of India, Virat was unable to bring home an ICC title.

Of course, that's why you play this game. You play for such big days, for such big tournaments. When you do it four times, then it is a blessing. I consider myself lucky to have played for this long and to have won four times. It's been amazing. I am just so happy we were able to play as a unit and really enjoy ourselves. We have had such an amazing time as a team. It has been an amazing tournament for us,” Kohli said on Star Sports.
