In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 encounter between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), tempers flare from both ends as Virat Kohli abuses the left-arm Chennai pacer Khaleel Ahmed after the end of the encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The heated moment took place after RCB broke the 17-year jinx at Chepauk with a powerful 50-run victory over the five-time champions. This was their first win at the venue since the inaugural edition in 2008.

After the end of the encounter, Virat Kohli went through a discussion with Ravindra Jadeja at the boundary line. They were sharing a close bond and were seemingly talking about the game.

But, mid-way through the discussion, his mood changed when he saw Khaleel coming to him. The bowler perhaps wanted to apologize to the former Indian captain, who looked angry and hurled at the pacer as the camera caught the moment.

It wasn’t the start of the heated moment. During the game, Virat Kohli gave an angry stare to the pacer. The fight started after Khaleel bowled a bouncer, which the batter missed at the start of the innings. Kohli didn’t like the Rajasthan pacer running up to him and giving him a stare.

The left-arm pacer bowled decently in the first innings, as he returned with figures of 1/28 in his four overs at an economy rate of seven. Virat Kohli, on the othe hand, found it hard to tackle the pacers and spinners on the slow surface. The ball was not coming off the bat nicely as he tried hard to play the big shots.

Virat Kohli’s struggle vs CSK in Chepauk

Virat Kohli came into the game after a fine unbeaten half-century to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore earn a victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. It took him nine balls to come on the strike as the crowd gave a loud cheer to the veteran batter.

The former RCB batter tried hard to get the boundaries flying off the bat, but nothing happened. He was on four off 10 balls in the fourth over of the innings before sweeping the juicy full toss from Noor Ahmed through the backward of the square to beat Ravichandran Ashwin in the circle for his first boundary of the evening.

After the dismissal of Phil Salt in that same over, Kohli was helped by Devdutt Padikkal, who nailed the left-arm spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, for a few big shots to gain the momentum in their favor. Rajat Patidar based the spinners, but on 16 off 22 balls, the pressure was immense on Virat Kohli to break the jail.

The first ball of the eleventh over from Matheesha Pathirana hit Kohli’s head, who seemed to be woken up by that delivery, and nailed the very next ball over the fine leg region for a huge six. Pathirana went with a slower ball as the Delhi-born whipped it over mid-wicket.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 196 runs on the board in their 20 overs. But three successive sixes from Tim David on the last over killed Chennai’s entire momentum.

CSK, losing three wickets in the powerplay, was never in the chase. Josh Hazlewood picked up the big wicket of the opponent captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Super Kings fell short by 50 runs and tasted their first home defeat against Rajat Patidar's army after 17 seasons.
