During the team's unboxing event in advance of the forthcoming Indian Premier League season, Phil Salt, RCB's new signing, engaged in a humorous exchange with the legendary Virat Kohli. During the ceremony, Salt and Kohli were spotted laughing together while Kohli was seen hugging Salt.

After playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders the previous season, Phil Salt was acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 11.50 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The batsman-wicketkeeper had an outstanding season the previous year and was instrumental in leading KKR to victory.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, RCB paid INR 21 crore to retain Virat Kohli. Although the talismanic batter is no longer playing in the T20I format, Kohli still yearns for an IPL title, something that eludes him.

Days before the 2025 Indian Premier League began, RCB hosted an unboxing event. The musicians relished the musical performance that got the audience moving. Virat Kohli acknowledged his excitement and gave the team's squad high marks.

"It feels amazing to be back in this amazing city, amazing fans and the excitement and happiness like every other season is high. I've been here for 18 years, and I absolutely love it. We have an amazing squad this time around, and a lot of talent. I'm personally very excited to get going for the season ahead," the 36-year-old said at the RCB event.

Virat Kohli has 8004 runs in IPL with 8 centuries and 55 fifties to his name in 252 matches.

The players at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium tossed balls to the spectators as mementos. But Salt accidentally smacked Kohli on the side of the head with one of the balls. After getting struck, Virat Kohli was stunned and sought out the player who had struck the ball.

Upon learning that it was none other than Phil Salt, they engaged in a playful exchange and exchanged hugs. In order to express their gratitude to the audience for their tremendous support, both players kept running around the field.

Phil Salt revealed the incident's specifics and asserted that Virat Kohli was searching for him after hitting him in the head. Salt even asserted that Kohli pursued him since a teammate had pointed the finger at him.

"I just saw Virat (Kohli) in my eye-line. And honestly, I just got him so nicely in the side of the head. He literally got whiplashed looking around for me. And… I don’t know who was pointing at me, he thought it was someone else and then his eyes turned to me and he looked serious. I wasn’t sticking around and I tried to get straight out of there but he was on me in no time at all. If there’s footage of that, it’ll be very, very funny," said Salt.
