Virender Sehwag humiliated Murali Karthik on a live chat discussion. As Murali Karthik questioned the Rajasthan Royals' IPL 2025 mega-auction strategy and choice to release match-winning bowlers, Virender Sehwag delivered a genuine humiliation of his former teammate in his manner.
Karthik stated that the Rajasthan Royals damaged their bowling assault by releasing proven match-winners such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, which could come back to haunt them in the present IPL 2025.

He also reinforced Virender Sehwag's opinion that bowlers win matches and tournaments, but the Royals don't have a good attack this season, as evidenced by their performance thus far. The RR has had a mixed season, won two of their four games, and ranked seventh in the points standings.
“Rajasthan Royals’ confidence should increase with Sanju Samson’s return. See what they did in the mega-auction last year. They were at number 2 in overall bowling and at number 8 in overall batting. They retained all the batters. But the bowlers who have won them the matches, they left them all. You just heard Veeru saying that bowlers make you win competitions, and RR left all the good bowlers. So, this time, his bowling lineup is not that strong,” Kartik said on Cricbuzz.
But Virender Sehwag delivered a reality check with his signature swagger. With cynicism, the former Indian batter reminded Karthik that the bowlers he was referring to were struggling with the ball in the upcoming IPL 2025.
Good that RR didn’t retain Ashwin and Chahal: Virender Sehwag taunts Murali Kartik
Virender Sehwag stated that Ashwin, who returned to Chennai Super Kings after a decade, is being hammered at Chepauk, while Chahal has yet to make an impact for the Punjab Kings.
“But let me tell you one thing. The bowlers left Rajasthan; they are not doing it for their teams this season. Ravichandran Ashwin is struggling with Chennai. Yuzvendra Chahal is not doing anything for Punjab. So, in a way, it's good that RR released them,” Sehwag mocked Kartik.

Sanju Samson, who returned as captain of the RR team in IPL 2025, became RR's most successful captain, winning his 32nd game as skipper. He overtook the late icon Shane Warne, who led the Royals to victory in the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and won 31 of 55 matches as captain.
Samson now has 32 wins in 62 IPL games as RR captain, putting him at the top of the franchise's leadership history.
