The IPL 2025 underperforming Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have once again been ridiculed by former Indian opener Virender Sehwag. Given their continued difficulties this season, Virender Sehwag appears to be on a mission to degrade the five-time IPL winners CSK, and he has a fantastic opportunity to do so.
With just two wins from their nine games played thus far in the league, Chennai Super Kings are now sitting last in the IPL 2025 points table. In addition to degrading their IPL reputation, this dismal performance has allowed their detractors to taunt and abuse them.
Their current IPL 2025 season is most likely the weakest in the competition's history. Given the way things are going for them, CSK has already been eliminated from the playoff race and has a good probability of finishing the current season as the tenth team.
CSK finishing at 10 will be good, they need to know how it feels: Virender Sehwag
Sehwag added to their problems by wishing that CSK would complete the current IPL 2025 with the lowest ranking. The former Indian opener appears to be exacting retribution on Chennai because he wants the team to understand what it's like to be the bottom team in the league.
According to the former Indian opener, he would be overjoyed if clubs like the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, or even the Royal Challengers Bangalore won the trophy this year. He added that since CSK had advanced to the finals a record 10 times, it wouldn't be catastrophic if they finished last in the current IPL 2025.
“If Delhi, Punjab, or even RCB wins, tere muh mein ghee shakkar. I can't say whether Chennai will finish last or not, but even if they do, it will be great. Because they know what it feels like to be number 10. They have played so many finals,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Sehwag noted that the team combination is CSK's main problem, but he thinks the squad can improve next season with the correct adjustments and the addition of new players. The cricket analyst pointed out that the team doesn't have to make significant adjustments.
Sehwag pinpoints major problem
“They don’t need a new vision. They need to see which players can be changed. I feel they need a combination in which they can perform well. I feel that whatever they have tried so far has not worked.
The opening combinations that the experienced players did not work, and neither did the new players. Now, with a few games, they are trying to check players that can make an impact so that they will be retained, and new players will be brought in for those who are pushed out,” he stated.
CSK will next face PBKS on April 30 in Chennai.
