Openers- Brandon King and Evin Lewis

Going into the ODI series, the biggest concern for the batting department will be the opening partnership. Brandon King and Evin Lewis have returned with low scores and failed to offer them a winning platform.

Their opening stands are three, 20, and four, with the batters not being able to get the bat on the ball. King has poor numbers in ODI cricket with 1373 runs in 49 innings at an average of under 30 and a strike rate of 83.57, thanks to seven fifties and three centuries.

Lewis’ contribution will be vital in England. The southpaw can nail a few big shots to fly the team off to a power-play start. He has decent numbers in the format with 2167 runs in 63 innings at an average of 36.73 and a strike rate of 86.31, shouldering 11 fifties and five centuries.

Middle order- Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (c & wk.), Shimron Hetmyer, Justin Graves, Roston Chase

The upcoming number three for the West Indies, Keacy Carty, finished the Ireland series with 278 runs in three innings, thanks to two centuries, including a fine 170-run knock in the third encounter. He will need to carry the responsibility of the side during the England series against challenging bowlers.

Justin Graves is also in fine form, with 129 runs in three innings at a strike rate of nearly 170. His role at the lower order will be vital for the side. Shai Hope, as a leader, has done well. He is a fine player against the spinners, and on a slow and low surface, his contribution against Adil Rashid will decide the middle overs.

Shimron Hetmyer is expected to bat at number five. The 28-year-old is back in the 50-over format after nearly eight months. In 51 innings, the veteran has 1539 runs at a strike rate of 105.61, with five centuries and four fifties at the best score of 139 runs.

Bowlers- Matthew Forde, Jayden Seales, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie

Matthew Forde displayed his skill with the bat, celebrating the fastest ODI half-century during the second 50-over encounter against the West Indies.

Joseph will be the leader of the pace attack. The right-arm fast bowler has already collected 126 scalps in 76 innings at an average of 28.23 and an economy rate of 5.48, thanks to the best figure of 5/56.

Gudakesh Motie will also turn the ball away from the right-handers, and he will get assistance off the surface, which is dry and tends to remain slow in the first innings.
