Who Are The Impact Players Nominated By SRH and RR In Match 2 Of IPL 2025?

The second match of the IPL 2025 got underway at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23, with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Rajasthan Royals is being captained by Riyan Parag while Pat Cummins captains Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Rajasthan Royals chose to field after winning the toss. Sanju Samson will play as an impact player owing to injury. Wanindu Hasaranga, a spinner from Sri Lanka, was left out of the playing XI for the Jaipur-based team.

The pitch appeared dry and would be more suited for batting later, according to Riyan Parag. Speaking about his interim captaincy, Parag admitted that he had a lot of work ahead of him. He emphasized that Sanju Samson may still contribute because of the impact player rule, even when he is injured.

"Bowling first. Looks like a dry wicket so we'll have a crack at it later. (On captaincy) Means a lot, started here as a 17-year-old. Getting to fill in big shoes, very excited. The impact rule helps with Sanju. We've retained a lot of our core so that helps with the batting order. The other three overseas will be Theekshana, Jofra, and Farooqi. Always good to start well, we have practiced a lot," Riyan Parag said.

Pat Cummins, meanwhile, said the result of the toss was not really important. He encouraged players to play freely and aimed to maintain the performance from the previous season.

"It is great to be back. The core of the group is the same, the coaching staff is the same. Don't think batting or bowling first matters. It is pretty hot, so don't mind bowling second. Would be nice to keep last season's form going. We always encourage our games to play with freedom. Abhi and Heady with hopefully continue from last year, and Nitish and Klassen are there as well. Ishan Kishan and Abhinav Manohar will be making their debuts,” Cummins said.
