Former India cricketer Yograj Singh slammed Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta for scolding captain Shreyas Iyer after the team lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the recent IPL 2025 match in Bengaluru.
At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by a commanding seven wickets in Match 37 of the 2025 Indian Premier League.
On-field disputes between the IPL team owners and the captains are becoming too evident
After winning the toss, RCB chose to field first. After scoring 62/1 in the powerplay, PBKS got off to a fast start but lost steam as the RCB bowlers tightened their hold. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya each took two wickets, limiting PBKS to 157/6 in 20 overs.
Virat Kohli (73 off 54 balls)* and Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 35 balls) spearheaded the RCB's chase in response, creating a 103-run stand for the second wicket. Even though they lost Phil Salt early, RCB won with seven balls remaining after reaching 159/3 in 18.5 overs.
With his 67th fifty-plus performance in IPL history, Kohli's undefeated knock earned him the Player of the Match title. With this victory, RCB moved up to third position in the standings and kept up their perfect away record.
Preity Zinta has a serious talk with Shreyas Iyer after PBKS’ loss
After the match, Preity Zinta, the PBKS owner, was seen in a very confrontational conversation with Shreyas Iyer. PBKS should’ve won at their home ground in Mullanpur, but failed to capitalize on home advantage.
It was an overall poor performance from the side, and maybe Zinta was talking about the same with Iyer. But it looked like a very angry way she was talking to the PBKS captain.

Yograj Singh slams Preity Zinta for scolding Shreyas Iyer after PBKS’ loss to RCB
Former Cricketer Yograj Singh, father of 2011 World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh, shared his views on the video.
He stated that he was sad and angered to see someone who doesn’t know anything about cricket scolding a cricketer. He stated that the owner of the team shouldn’t be telling her team’s players how to play and how not to play cricket.
“Punjab has just lost, so Preity Zinta ji is scolding the captain, sometimes we do this, sometimes we do that, what are you asking, brother, you are the owners of the team. What are you telling them? That you should have done this to bowl to him, why are you scolding them?
"Just say, well played, boys, thank you very much. If you lose after scoring 240-50 runs, that means the opponent has played better than you. So I think cricketers should coordinate with other cricketers, interact, and others should not interfere,” Yograj told Cricket Next.
