Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian team opener in Tests, has made a huge u-turn in his decision about changing his domestic teams, leaving Mumbai and moving to Goa, despite having applied for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association.
In April, Jaiswal had dropped a huge bomb after it was revealed that he had applied for NOC from MCA, citing his willingness to move to Goa for the next domestic season.
Jaiswal had made his FC debut for Mumbai and made his name for the domestic team before being picked for the Indian team and gaining success.
It Was a Very Tough Decision for Me - Yashasvi Jaiswal
After living in Mumbai his entire life, Yashasvi Jaiswal acknowledged that leaving the city was a difficult choice. The 23-year-old stated that he will always be grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association in an interview with The Indian Express.
"It was a very tough decision for me. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA,” Jaiswal told the Indian Express.
Yashasvi Jaiswal disclosed that a major factor in his choice to move was the leadership position that Goa offered. Jaiswal stated that he was unable to decline the chance. The southpaw went on to say that he will give Goa his all and assist the team in winning domestic competitions.
“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity, and it has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India, and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” Jaiswal added.
Yashasvi Jaiswal makes U-turn; wants to play for Mumbai again
The Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made a U-turn a month after requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to move from Mumbai to Goa.
In an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the 23-year-old has now withdrawn his NOC and stated that he is available to play for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season.
“I the undersigned would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed ! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in email to MCA, assessed by The Indian Express.
MCA yet to decide
The MCA hasn’t made any decision yet.
At the age of eleven, Jaiswal relocated to Mumbai from Suriyawan in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, to play cricket. Since his Under-19 days, he has played for India, and a few seasons ago, he made his debut with a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
His performances for Mumbai put him in the attention of national selectors, which led to an IPL deal with the Rajasthan Royals.
