Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Rajasthan Royals opener, has bid goodbye to the franchise after their IPL 2025 tournament ended on May 20. RR finished the IPL 2025 with 4 wins from 14 games and 10 losses, ending up in the 9th spot in the points table.

On his Instagram account, the youthful opener posted the enigmatic remark, "Grateful for Our Journey Together."

The team captained by Sanju Samson defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to wrap up their IPL 2025 season. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, they won by six wickets with 17 balls left. The Jaipur team's leading scorer this season is Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been a member since 2020.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is unhappy over not being given the Rajasthan Royals’ captaincy

On social media, there has been a lot of conjecture over Jaiswal's displeasure when the Rajasthan Royals named Riyan Parag captain early in the tournament while Sanju Samson was out.

Online, fans vented their frustration, with many believing that despite Jaiswal's steady efforts for the squad, he was "robbed" of the position. It is crucial to remember, too, that Jaiswal has never held a leadership position for India's Under-19 squad or at the domestic level.

Jaiswal had originally intended to join Goa in domestic cricket in order to assume a leadership position, but he ultimately decided to stick with Mumbai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s solid numbers in IPL 2025

During the IPL 2025 season, Yashasvi Jaiswal amassed 559 runs at an average of 43.00 and an outstanding strike rate of 159.71 in 14 games, including six half-centuries. Jaiswal defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the final, scoring 36 runs off just 19 balls, including two sixes and five fours.

Following his outstanding achievements in the 2020 U19 World Cup, Jaiswal was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for 2.4 crore. In the 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons, the southpaw scored 48, 249, and 258 runs, respectively. The Royals, however, were patient and kept helping him.

Jaiswal’s breakthrough came in 2023, when he scored 625 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 163.61. He earned a spot on the Indian national team. The batter continued this form in IPL 2024, scoring 435 runs in 15 innings with a strike rate of 155.91.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s goodbye post for the Rajasthan Royals

There was conjecture on Yashasvi's future with the Rajasthan Royals. He posted a statement on Instagram following their last game, which has stoked speculation that he may be leaving the team.

"Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but continue to be grateful for our journey together. On to the next challenge (India flag emoji) and whatever the future brings. YBJ 64," Jaiswal wrote.
