The Indian Premier League (IPL) always provides both the young and experienced players a platform to display their ability and class with the bat and ball in hand. From the likes of MS Dhoni to Ravichandran Ashwin, many players are veterans but are still contributing to the franchise.
However, a few players undoubtedly are coming to the fag end of their career and may look to hang up their shoes after the end of this season’s IPL.
Here are the 10 Indian players who can retire from T20s after IPL 2025
1. Ishant Sharma (36y 259d)
The veteran Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma, has featured in 179 innings of the shortest format to earn 155 wickets at an average of 31.79 and a strike rate of 24, thanks to one four-wicket and one five-wicket haul.
He looked tired in a few of the games and could end his career in this format after the IPL 2025.
2. Karn Sharma (37y 208d)
The Indian leg-spinner, Karn Sharma, has a huge career of 171 innings in the shortest format to gain 160 wickets at an average of 26.03 and an economy rate of 7.70, thanks to a couple of four-wicket hauls. Karn has faced a few injury issues, and that could be the end of his T20 career.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin (38y 244d)
Things have not gone as planned as the experienced Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, thought.

In his huge career in the 20-over format, he picked up 315 wickets in 332 innings at an average of 27 and an economy rate of just over seven to celebrate four four-wicket hauls.
4. MS Dhoni (43y 316d)
Towards the end of every IPL season, there is speculation around MS Dhoni’s future in the tournament.
Many predict his end from the event. In 354 innings of the shortest format, the right-handed batter has collected 7612 runs at a strike rate of 135.75, shouldering 28 half-centuries.
5. Ravindra Jadeja (36y 164d)
The left-arm spin all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, in his T20 career has smashed 3963 runs in 250 innings at a strike rate of 131 and claimed 233 wickets at an economy rate of 7.62.
But his performance has gone down, and could be the end of his career in this format after this year’s Indian Premier League.
6. Ajinkya Rahane (36d 347d)
The experienced right-handed batter, Ajinkya Rahane, is the leader of the KKR side in this IPL 2025 and has contributed with 7227 runs in 266 innings at a strike rate of 124.88, thanks to two centuries and 51 fifties at the best score of unbeaten 105 runs. At this age, he could end his T20 career after the IPL 2025.
7. Rohit Sharma (38y 19d)
The former Indian opening batter, Rohit Sharma, is the leading run-getter in the T20Is and has collected 12130 runs in 446 innings at a strike rate of 135.15, thanks to 81 centuries and eight centuries.
After his initial struggle with the bat in this year’s IPL, Rohit found rhythm and got back into the runs.

8. Jaydev Unadkat (33y 213d)
Jaydev Unadkat has been a fantastic bowler with the red ball. In the shortest format, he has not been the same best with 241 wickets in 203 innings at an average of 23.93 and an economy rate of nearly eight, thanks to the best bowling figure of 5/25 in an innings. Unadkat could look to put his entire focus on the T20s.
9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (35y 103d)
The experienced pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has collected 322 wickets in 304 innings so far in his T20 career at an economy rate of 7.32. He is also the second leading wicket-taker in IPL history with 193 scalps and can look to retire from the T20s after this year’s league.
10. Harshal Patel (34y 177d)
Harshal Patel has used his slower balls beautifully to fox the batters. But he has become an old player. In 204 innings, he has picked up 258 wickets at an economy rate of 8.39 and could retire from the format after the end of the Indian Premier League 2025.
