Rinku Singh played a crucial role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ last-ball victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Eden Gardens. But in this process of keeping them alive in the race to the playoffs of the 2025 season, the southpaw may have injured himself.
In the first innings, Rinku notched up an unbeaten knock of 19 runs in six balls as Kolkata grabbed 22 runs off the final over of the innings. There was a point when the Royals needed 22 runs off the six balls.
Rinku Singh Faces Injury Scare in IPL 2025
On the very first ball of the final over, Rinku Singh ran to his right at deep cover and made a full-length dive to deny Jofra Archer a boundary. That injured him as he was seen limping while holding his right groin. Even on the last ball, he charged in from the long-on boundary to deny the second to Shubham Dubey to claim the one-run win.

“It was very important because everyone in India knows that the outfield here is very fast. So you have to react accordingly. Once the field restrictions are lifted after the power play, I field outside the 30-yard circle. I enjoy my fielding a lot. And to be honest, I like fielding more than batting.” The Uttar Pradesh batter explained.
The veteran revealed that fielding would be a huge factor in controlling the unit. He felt that one or two brilliant catches or stops of runs could keep them ahead in the fixture.
“If you can save 10 or 12 runs in the field, that's a bonus. That's what we decided - let's give our best in the field, bowlers are doing their job anyway. It is all about if you can take one or two brilliant catches, stop a couple of runs, and in the end, that was the difference.” Rinku Singh shed light.
With the injury scare, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) management can look at these three players to replace the middle-order batter.
Here is the list of three players who can replace Rinku Singh for KKR in IPL 2025
1. Karan Lal
Karan Lal, the Bengal batter, is well-known for the conditions at the Eden Gardens for the Knight Riders.
He walks at number six in the batting order with 338 runs in nine innings at an average of 42.25 and a strike rate of 161.72 during the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, having two half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 94 runs.
He plays the spinners with full dominance and is equally powerful against the pacers.
2. Narayan Jagadeesan
The Tamil Nadu batter, Narayan Jagadeesan, can be a very good replacement for Rinku Singh for the Knight Riders in the IPL 2025.
Jagadeesan has smashed 280 runs in seven innings at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 163.74, shouldering four fifties in the SMAT 2024-25.
KKR can use the Chennai-born at any position in the batting department, according to their requirement.
3. Harvik Desai
The Saurashtra batter was the ninth-highest run-getter of the tournament with 323 runs in eight innings at an average of 40.37 and a strike rate of 152.35, thanks to three fifties at the best score of 76 runs.

KKR can use the wicket-keeper batter at the top, replacing Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and make Rovman Powell play in the lower order.
If Rinku Singh gets ruled out of the last few games of the season, then it will be a huge blow for the franchise, which needs to win three successive games to be in the race for the playoffs.
