The former Indian captain and head coach, Rahul Dravid, is popularly known as the ‘Wall’ for his incredible quality of putting his life for his wicket in the middle. But he is also a very cool customer of the game, who is respected by everyone in the field and hardly loses his cool.

Throughout his international career, he has carried himself as a calm individual both on and off the field, which is a great lesson for youngsters growing up. Rahul Dravid is India’s third leading run-getter across formats with over 24000 runs, thanks to 48 centuries and 145 fifties.

But even in a simple and composed life, the veteran has lost his cool a few times.

Here are the rarest 5 times when Rahul Dravid got angry on the field

1. Rahul Dravid throws the cap on the field

The story is from the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium. Rajasthan batted first to post 189/4 in their 20 overs and needed to restrict the home side from chasing the target in 14.3 overs.

But on a high-scoring ground, Corey Anderson started to bash the bowlers from the beginning of the inning. Aditya Tare, after a last-ball six, pulled up his shirt and ran around the ground to celebrate the victory. Watching his side fall like a pack of cards, Dravid, the head coach, threw his cap on the field in utter disgust.

2. Rahul Dravid took a job at Kieron Pollard

This was again from the IPL during the 2013 edition when Mumbai locked horns with Rajasthan. Kieron Pollard tried to break Shane Watson’s concentration when the Rajasthan batter came to the crease.

Till getting dismissed, the Australian all-rounder kept getting mocked by the former West Indies captain. Pollard went a step ahead to give him a fiery send-off and even went to RR’s dressing room to continue it. Watson had to walk away from the dugout.

Coming to the press conference, Dravid jibed at Pollard, claiming that a bowler giving a sending-offto a batter after dismissal is an act of cowardice.

3. Rahul Dravid throws a chair in anger

It’s very rare to see the former top-order Indian batter expressing his displeasure over an incident with physical action. But the veteran’s wife, Vijeta, during an interview, shared the rarest story.

Vijeta revealed that it was Virender Sehwag, Dravid’s teammate, who once decoded him the entire natter. The reason for the anger was India losing a Test match against England in home conditions. Sehwag informed how Dravid smashed a chair after they lost the red-ball contest.

4. Rahul Dravid’s brawl with Shoaib Akhtar

The former Indian batter had a small verbal fight with the expressive ex-Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, during the 2004 Champions Trophy in England. The Rawalpindi Express tried to get under Dravid’s skin.

In the first innings, while taking two runs, Akhtar seemed to block Rahul’s path. The batter was not happy with the incident and asked the pacer to stay away from his way. Pakistan’s captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, intervened and separated the duo. Dravid’s fifty went in vain as the arch-rivals chased down the score with three wickets in hand.

5. Rahul Dravid’s tussle with Mitchell Johnson

Mitchell Johnson was in fiery form during the 2013 IPL. He was engaged in a verbal altercation with Dravid during the 2013 edition of the event. It happened during the second qualifier at the Eden Gardens when the pacer delivered a few words to Dravid, who drove Johnson for a fine boundary.

After flicking the first ball for a boundary, Rahul walked up to Johnson, asking, “You want to say something? Mumbai eventually won the game by four wickets.
