The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called all of the ten captains of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for a special meeting before the opening game of the 18th edition between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on March 22.
All the leaders of the league will gather in Mumbai this Thursday, two days before the start of the tournament for the important pre-season meeting, which will take place at the BCCI headquarters at no. Besides the captains of the side, the board has also invited the managers for the program.
IPL captains to meet on March 20 at BCCI headquarters
The email, sent to the franchise by the IPL management and the BCCI, reckons that the meeting will be mostly around the briefing of the rules and regulations of the league for the new season at the Cricket Center and will last for around one hour.

The officials of the board will inform the new additions and changes for the upcoming season. At the Taj Hotel, the sponsor activities will also take place.
In total, the event will be a four-hour function, culminating the customary photo shoot featuring all the new leaders of the season. Generally, the meetings and the photo sessions take pace in the city where the season opener happens. This means, many expected the program to take place at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
But this time the event taking place in Mumbai at the BCCI office might be a suggestion of something more significant at the usual appraisal of the rules.
Maiden IPL captaincy experience for Rajat Patidar
The two new leaders of the IPL, Rajat Patidar for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Axar Patel for the Delhi Capitals, will be eager to do well and gift the maiden title to their respective sides in their maiden season as leader. Faf du Plessis departed to a new franchise in the mega auction which speculated the chance of RCB going to Virat Kohli as the new leader.
But the three-time runners-up of the tournament decided to shoulder the responsibility on young Rajat Patidar. The same incident took place with Axar Patel, who got the responsibility after Rishabh Pant left the franchise for the new season.
Ajinkya Rahane will also lead the Kolkata Knight Riders for the very first time in his career after the defending champions ended their relationship with Shreyas Iyer. India’s middle-order batter will work with head coach Ricky Ponting for the Punjab Kings.
Rishabh Pant, who became the highest-paid IPL player in history for a price of INR 27 crore, aims to bring the title to the Lucknow Super Giants. Apart from this, there are five old leaders from the last season.

Hardik Pandya won’t be available for the opening game of the Mumbai Indians against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium due to his one-match ban for the slow over-rate offense. Pat Cummins hopes to take the Sunrisers Hyderabad a step better in IPL 2025, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will have more pressure on his shoulders for the CSK side.
IPL 2025 to begin on March 22
A total of 70 games will take place in the group, excluding the four knockout games in the playoffs. The season will begin on March 22 between RCB and KKT at the Eden Gardens, which will host the second qualifier and the final of the competition.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will also host the first qualifier and eliminator of the tournament.
