The Indian women's ODI and T20I teams for the forthcoming tour of England, which starts on June 28, have been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Shafali Verma, an explosive opener, has been called up for the five-match T20I series. She last participated in a T20I at the Women's T20 World Cup in 2024.

Later this month, the Women in Blue will travel to England for a limited-overs series that will consist of three ODIs and five T20Is. In both forms, Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the team, while Smriti Mandhana will serve as vice-captain. The Women in Blue will be looking to defeat the host team in a difficult series.

Shafali Verma included in India T20I squad after seven months

After a seven-month break, Shafali Verma has been called up to the T20I team. After a string of poor performances, she was removed from the team last November. In both domestic competitions and the Women's Premier League (WPL), the right-handed batter has shown consistency.

While leading Haryana, she won the Senior Women's One Day Trophy and the Challenger Trophy with the highest score. In the One Day Trophy, the opener amassed 527 runs at a strike rate of 152.31 and an average of 75.29. In the Challenger Trophy, she also scored 414 runs at 82.80 with a strike rate of 145.26.

Shafali also made an impression in the WPL, as she led the Delhi Capitals to the championship game with 304 runs at a strike rate of 152.76, ranking fourth in the league's scoring rankings.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh are amongst those included in both squads

Richa Rawal and Uma Chetry had replaced Smriti Mandhana as openers in T20Is and ODIs, respectively, while she was away. Rawal has kept her position, but Shafali has taken Chetry's place.

Since his previous ODI appearance in October 2024, Shafali Verma has not been added to the team. Due to his strong WPL 2025 results, Sneh Rana has been called up to both squads.

In addition to all-rounder Deepti Sharma and batter Harleen Deol, wicketkeepers Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia have been added to the ODI and T20I teams.

Both teams have Jemimah Rodrigues, a floater in the batting order. Arundhati Reddy, a medium-fast bowler, has also earned berths in both forms. Pratika Rawal and Tejal Hasabnis, meanwhile, have been selected for the tour's ODI matches.
