The Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a very good start in the IPL 2025 with three wins in the first four encounters before facing the issue in the middle stage of the tournament, with just two victories in the next five encounters, including one no-result encounter.

Punjab is fighting hard with the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians in a three-team race to be among the top four sides. Both Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have nearly made their qualification, but Mumbai’s current form is a red alarm for the Kings.

PBKS will travel to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for the next fixture against the Chennai Super Kings on April 30, 2025.

Openers- Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya

One of the reasons for success of the PBKS side is their string opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and the wicket-keeper batter Prabhsimran Singh, the wicket-keeper batter. They put up 120 runs for the opening wicket against the Knight Riders.

Arya nailed a fine knock of 69 runs in 35 balls at a strike rate of 197.14, shouldering on eight boundaries and four over boundaries. Prabhsimran smacked 83 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 169.39, thanks to six boundaries and as many sixes.

Both of them will hope to get the same contribution from the opening partnership for the next fixture against the Chennai Super Kings on a slow surface, where the opening stand will be so important for the side to post a big score.

Middle order- Shreyas Iyer (c), Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis (wk), Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh

The PBKS’ captain, Shreyas Iyer, is the third leading run-getter of the event, with 292 runs in nine innings at an average of 32.44 and a strike rate of 168.78. Even Prabhsimran smacked 292 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 168.78, thanks to two fifties at the best score of 83.

Nehal Wadhera has cracked 189 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.80 and a strike rate of 146.51, scoring the best score of 62 runs. Glenn Maxwell’s struggle in this edition against the spinners continued even after his return to the league after missing a few games.

The wicket-keeper batter for PBKS, Josh Inglis, made 11 runs in six balls at a strike rate of 183.33. Shashank Singh didn’t get the chance to bat in the last game. It will be important for the overseas batters to perform better with the bat.

Punjab decided to use Azmatullah Omarzai on the side in place of Xavier Bartlett for the game against the Knight Riders.

Bowlers- Arshdeep Singh, Azmatullah Omarzai, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harpreet Brar (Impact)
