Punjab Kings (PBKS) displayed a fabulous batting performance in their recent game against the Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. With the win, they have moved up to fourth position.

PBKS started the campaign with a fine victory against the Gujarat Titans before claiming another eight-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Atul Bihari Vajpayee Stadium. But they slipped in the next game against Rajasthan before earning another win over the Super Kings.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side will now lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

IPL 2025: PBKS Playing XI vs SRH- Match 27

Openers- Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh

The story of the PBKS vs CSK game was only about the young and uncapped left-handed batter, Priyansh Arya, who started the game with a first ball over the boundary. Khaleel Ahmed went short at the southpaw, who pulled the ball over the deep mid-wicket region for another six.

The best part of the knock was how he kept his shape and extended his aggression with the bat despite losing wickets at regular intervals from the other end. Arya nailed 103 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 245.24, shouldering on seven boundaries and nine over boundaries.

Prabhsimran Singh, the wicket-keeper batter, however, was dismissed on the very second ball of the game as Mukhesh Choudhary knocked out the stumps to draw the first blood.

Middle order- Shreyas Iyer (c), Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera, Glenn Maxwell, Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen

The PBKS captain, Shreyas Iyer, started with a six on the very first delivery, but he failed for nine runs in seven balls at a strike rate of 128.57. Marcus Stoinis went back to the pavilion for four runs in seven balls.

Nehal Wadhera started with a six but looked to be too positive against Ravichandran Ashwin and was caught in the hands of MS Dhoni. Thanks to a superb catch, Glenn Maxwell went back to the pavilion for one run.

After a disaster from the middle order, it was up to the lower-order batters, Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen, to pull them over the 200-run mark. The former nailed 52 unbeaten runs in 36 balls at a strike rate of 144.44 before Janse drilled 34 unbeaten runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 178.95.

Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Yash Thakur (Impact)

There was so much expectation from Arshdeep Singh to pick up early wickets with the new ball. But the left-arm pacer didn’t work well inside the powerplay in the very first game. It was Maxwell who delivered them the very first wicket of Rachin Ravindra.

Lockie Ferguson’s pace was too hot to handle for the CSK batter, while PBKS didn’t use Yuzvendra Chahal for 17 overs in the second innings. The premier leg spinners came into the middle when MS Dhoni arrived. This could be a reason to save him from the aggressive spin-hitting of Shivam Dube.

Yash Thakur bowled well in patches to end with figures of 1/39 in four overs, while Marco Jansen went for 48 runs in four overs without any success. It will be a challenge for the bowlers if Sunrisers Hyderabad starts to come hard at the visiting PBKS side.
