The 2016 champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), made a superb start in the 2025 season of the tournament with a huge victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

But since then, everything has gone down for the franchise. They lost three successive contests against the Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

They have not only struggled in the bowling department but also made it incredibly hard to chase the score at the Eden Gardens.

Going into the SRH vs GT clash, it will be vital for the Pat Cummins-led side to come up with better planning in the fixture.

IPL 2025- SRH Playing XI vs GT- Match 19

Openers- Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma

Travis Head has been the biggest contributor for SRH in the batting department. He has so far nailed 140 runs in four innings at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 191.78, thanks to one half-century at the best score of 67. But he hasn’t batted consistently in phases.

Chasing 201 runs against the Knight Riders, Head thumped the very first delivery for a boundary straight down the ground before finding the fielder on the very second ball.

There was much expectation of Abhishek Sharma, who scored over 450 runs at a strike rate of more than 200 in the last IPL season.

However, the left-handed batter has looked a bit edgy in recent games. Having not contributed after being retained in the side, he will be under pressure before the SRH vs. GT clash.

Middle order- Ishan Kishan, Aniket Verma, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klassen (wk), Sachin Baby

Ishan Kishan started his IPL 2025 with a fine century in the opening game against the Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. But since then, he has done nearly nothing with the blade. The left-handed batter has just 10 runs in the previous three innings.

Aniket Verma showed his maturity in the clash against the Delhi Capitals, but he was not able to repeat his heroics from the last game, when he celebrated a fine half-century. Heinrich Klassen has gone well in bits and pieces,, but the SRH side has yet to get the entire batting line-up together since the opening clash.

Their captain, Pat Cummins, spoke about the requirement of understanding the situation before the next clash. Kamindu Mendis could go out on the side in the place of Sachin Baby.

Bowlers: Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel/Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, Simarjeet Singh

With three defeats, Sunrisers Hyderabad has dropped down to the third position in the points table. Mohammed Shami bowled well in the last game to end with figures of 1/29 in four overs. But the others have leaked runs at the deathovers.

Both Cummins and Harshal Patel went for nearly 11 runs in four overs. Simarjeet Singh had a terrible evening to finish with figures of 0/47 in four overs. The only positive was Zeeshan Ansari, with 1/25 in three overs.

The SRH bowlers won’t have an easy time in Hyderabad against Gujarat, but that game could decide their fate for the side in the 18th edition of the competition.
