KL Rahul, a batsman and wicketkeeper for the Delhi Capitals (DC), had forecast that Super Overs would be featured in the T20 competition prior to the 2025 IPL season. During Wednesday's IPL 2025 encounter between the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the middle-order batter's prediction came true.
This has led the fans to suspect that there might be match-fixing in the IPL after the DC vs RR match ended in a thrilling super-over finish.
On Wednesday, April 16, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Capitals overcame the Rajasthan Royals by the narrowest of margins in the 32nd IPL 2025 match. Mitchell Starc's brilliant bowling in the final overs and the Super Over helped DC win even though the Sanju Samson-led squad was in a winning position.

The Australian pacer Mitchell Starc shone with the ball as he first took the game into the super over, while defending 9 runs in the final over of the Delhi v Rajasthan match. He also bowled an excellent super over, sending down an over full of fiery yorkers to help DC win.
Sanju Samson, the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals, and the Delhi Capitals scored a respectable 188/5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Contributions were made by Abishek Porel (49), KL Rahul (38), Tristan Stubbs (34*), and Axar Patel (34). The best bowler for RR was Jofra Archer, who claimed 2/32.
After skipper Samson left due to injury, Rajasthan's reaction stalled. Nitish Rana (51) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) kept them on course to pursue the target. Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag had trouble scoring.
The game went to the Super Over after Mitchell Starc's outstanding death bowling changed the course of events. Only 11 runs were scored by RR against Starc in the Super Over. It was easily chased down by DC in four balls. KL Rahul finished the game with a six, and Tristan Stubbs hit an undefeated seven runs off three balls.
