KL Rahul Takes Brutal Dig At Kevin Pietersen For Maldives Break In Middle Of IPL 2025

Before the IPL 2025 encounter against Gujarat Titans (GT), star batter-wicketkeeper KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC) didn't pass up the chance to make fun of his DC mentor, Kevin Pietersen. During the ongoing IPL 18, Kevin Pietersen traveled to the Maldives with his family for 2 weeks, and KL Rahul made fun of him for it.

With five victories in six games, the Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, are leading the standings with ten points. On Saturday, April 19, the Delhi-based team will play the third-place Shubman Gill-led team in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Kevin Pietersen met GT captain Shubman Gill at a practice session prior to the Delhi Capitals vs. Gujarat Titans game. Pietersen said, "Hello, how are you, brother? What is going on?" as the two exchanged cordial greetings.

"Bro, what's a mentor? Nobody is aware of what a mentor is. Could you define a mentor for me?" Pietersen asked in jest, referring to his position in the Delhi Capitals organization.

In Ahmedabad, the Delhi Capitals have triumphed thrice over the Gujarat Titans. The Capitals will be put to the test once more in their next game against the Gujarat Titans.

KL Rahul burns Kevin Pietersen with a brutal dig for his Maldives trip in the middle of IPL 2025

The former England captain's recent mid-season excursion to the Maldives was ridiculed by KL Rahul. Pietersen was left stunned when Rahul said that a coach is someone who takes a two-week holiday during the IPL season.

“Mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks mid-season," Rahul replied.

Delhi Capitals shared the exchange on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption, “Thanks, KL, now we know what a mentor does.”

Kevin Pietersen missed DC’s match against RCB and MI for his trip

Kevin Pietersen and his family recently took a trip to the Maldives. He was absent from the team's games against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He did, however, attend the game against the Rajasthan Royals. In the Super Over, Delhi defeated the squad captained by Sanju Samson.

Before the 2025 IPL season, Pietersen was named the Delhi Capitals' mentor. Hemang Badani was also hired as the team's head coach. The Delhi Capitals' lead in the standings would be further solidified with a victory over the Gujarat Titans.

With 15 runs against SRH, a game-winning 77 runs against CSK, and an outstanding undefeated 93* against RCB, KL Rahul has been in outstanding batting form in the 2025 IPL.
