KL Rahul’s availability for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the next IPL 2025 match has been confirmed. The DC team opened their IPL 2025 on a winning note, defeating LSG in their first match in Vizag. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam on March 30, and KL Rahul will return to the fold.

Earlier this week, the wicketkeeper-batsman was absent from the Delhi Capitals' season opener against the Lucknow Super Giants. Due to his attendance at his first child's birth, KL Rahul was unable to participate in the game. The Delhi Capitals administration had given him special permission to miss the game.

Ashutosh Sharma’s heroics help DC defeat LSG in IPL 2025 opener

During the Delhi Capitals vs. Lucknow Super Giants match at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty were gifted with a daughter.

The Delhi Capitals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants, Rahul's old team, in an exciting match while he was away. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran both scored half-centuries as the Super Giants, who batted first, amassed a massive total of 209/8 in the 20 overs that were allowed.

Delhi Capitals clinch a thriller in Vizag

The Delhi Capitals were reeling at 65/5 in the seventh over after a terrible start to their reply. The Delhi-based team looked everywhere, with players like Axar Patel, Faf du Plessis, and Jake Fraser-McGurk back in the hut.

But the Delhi Capitals pulled off a stunning victory, thanks to a brilliant performance by Ashutosh Sharma. With three balls left, he got the team over the finish line. Sharma scored 66 off 31 balls to remain undefeated.

KL Rahul to make his DC debut in the IPL 2025

In their next matchup with Sunrisers Hyderabad, KL Rahul is now scheduled to make his comeback and debut for the Delhi Capitals. The Indian player will embark on a new path after playing for the Lucknow-based team throughout the final three IPL seasons.

Rahul, who is no longer with India's Twenty20 International side, has stated that he is still committed to playing for the country in the game's shortest format. To improve his chances of being called up for India's T20I team, he will now be looking for a successful IPL batting season after performing well in ODIs recently.

Rahul recently joined the DC family and was seen at the team dinner a couple of days ago. He copied Kevin Pietersen’s batting stance, much to the amusement of his teammates.
