A 16-man squad has been selected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their forthcoming home T20I series against Bangladesh, which will take place in Lahore. The squad does not include fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, or former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
Based on the players' performances in PSL 2025, selectors have chosen their team for the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh. Additionally, it will be Mike Hesson's debut series as the new head coach. Notably, the timetable will be revealed in the days ahead.
Salman Ali Agha continues to remain Pakistan's captain
Salman Ali Agha will remain captain, the PCB said in an official statement posted on its website. The schedule will be revealed soon, and all three games will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
"The selection committee has named a 16-member men’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with Salman Ali Agha continuing as captain of the team. All three matches will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the schedule set to be announced soon
The squad has been selected based on players’ performances in the ongoing HBL PSL X, which concludes on 25 May. This series also marks the first assignment for newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson,” the PCB statement read.
Fakhar Zaman makes T20I comeback for Pakistan; no Babar, Shaheen or Rizwan
After getting hurt during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, veteran batter Fakhar Zaman is expected to return to the national squad. After bouncing back from an ankle fracture earlier this year, opener Saim Ayub is also part of the team.
The squad has named Shadab Khan as its vice-captain. Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah are on the team.
Pakistan's T20I team does not include Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, or Muhammad Rizwan. They had earlier been left out of the April series against New Zealand. They did, however, rejoin the team for the New Zealand ODI series.
In 10 PSL 10 games, Babar Azam has amassed 288 runs, including three half-centuries. With a peak score of 105, Rizwan has scored 367 runs. In ten games, Shaheen Afridi has claimed eleven wickets. Interestingly, each of the three players leads their separate PSL teams as captain.
