Pakistan’s all-rounder, Khusdil Shah, lost his cool during the third ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. He charged towards some fans after they faced their sixth successive defeat in the format since the tri-series final against the same opposition.
The reports have not clarified what fired the Pakistan player to charge aggressively towards the supporters, but it is reckoned that the fans repeatedly taunted the all-rounder over their performance in the country. They lost the five-match T20I series by a margin of 1-4 before earning a 0-3 series defeat in the ODI.
PCB issues statement on Pakistan player losing cool during third ODI
At the end of the incident, the 30-year-old lost his temper and tried to attack the fans in the crowd. The other members of the support staff quickly came and took Khusdil away from the scene before it got ugly.

On the back of the incident, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued an official statement, highlighting that the foreign spectators used abusive language towards the national players. It also reckoned that once the all-rounder heard slogans against the country, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
“The cricket team management has strongly condemned the abusive language directed at national players by foreign spectators. During the match today, foreign spectators hurled inappropriate remarks at cricketers present on the field.” The PCB said.
“When anti-Pakistan slogans emerged, cricketer Khusdil Shah stepped in and urged the spectators to refrain. In response, Afghan spectators escalated the situation by using further inappropriate language in Pashto. Following the Pakistani team's complaint, stadium officials intervened and ejected the two disruptive spectators.” The statement revealed.

Pakistan loses third ODI by 43 runs to accept 3-0 series defeat
The Mohammed Rizwan-led side didn’t enjoy a great time at home during the Champions Trophy. They couldn’t register a single victory in the entire fixture, including the two defeats against India and New Zealand. Their last group-stage clash against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Stadium ended in a wash-out affair.
Having reached the Kiwi country, they lost the five-match T20I series by a margin of 4-1. They started the ODI series in Napier by 73 runs. The home side batted first to put up 344/9 in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to Mark Chapman’s 132 runs in 111 balls.
Muhammad Abbas smashed a 26-ball 52-run knock, shouldering on three sixes and as many boundaries, as to fire them to the position. The Green Brigade was in the chase with a decent opening stand but kept on losing wickets regularly and never got the rhythm towards the end.
They were bundled out for 271 runs, falling short by 73 runs. It was a repetition during the second clash at Seddon Park in Hamilton when the Blackcaps clubbed 292/8 in the 50 overs. The highest score of the top five Pakistani batters was nine.

It was Faheem Ashraf, who drilled 73 runs, and a fifty came from Naseem Shah, to carry them over the 200-run mark, which still fell short by 84 runs. In the third fixture, they leaked 264/8 in 42 overs. The 2017 champions were in the chase for a long time before wickets at regular intervals increased the distance between them and the victory.
Pakistan aims to develop skills in the white-ball format
They didn’t qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 super-eight stage and failed to reach the semifinal of the home Champions Trophy this season.
Before the upcoming T20 World Cup next year in India and Sri Lanka, they hope to improve their skills with both the bat and ball in hand.
