In a hopeful development, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has regained consciousness after suffering a heart attack while playing in the Dhaka Premier League. BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said that the batter is doing well.

According to Debashish Chowdhury, Tamim spoke with his family and physicians. The former captain of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be kept under surveillance for 48 hours. The top physician of BCB also stated that the first 24 hours will be critical.

Tamim Iqbal suffers heart attacks while playing Dhaka Premier League

Tamim was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League when he suffered chest trouble. He didn't appear to be in good form and was brought to the hospital for additional evaluation.

Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Tamim took part in the toss versus Shinepukur for a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on Monday morning at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) field no. 3. When he became ill after that, he received first aid at the BKSP and was sent to the neighboring KPJ Specialized Hospital.

At one point, an attempt was made to transport him to Dhaka via air ambulance, but his medical condition deteriorated. Later, he was transported back to the KPJ Specialised Hospital, where a heart block was diagnosed. Later, specialists used a stent to clear the blockage.

Tamim Iqbal undergoes angioplasty

Tamim Iqbal was diagnosed with a blockage in one of his heart's arteries. The left-hander then underwent a successful angiography and regained consciousness. However, he will need some time to restore full fitness.

The block was removed under the supervision of cardiologist Moniruzzaman Maruf at Fazilatunnessa Hospital. A stent has also been placed. Hence, the first 24 hours will be extremely crucial.

People's concerns and anxiety over Tamim Iqbal, who was hospitalized with a heart attack, lessened somewhat yesterday.

After stenting, the former national cricket team southpaw opener regained consciousness and responded to calls from medics and family members. Tamim is doing a lot better than he was yesterday, according to a physician in charge of his treatment at KPJ Specialised Hospital.

The doctors further stated that the former Bangladesh national team captain had been attempting to walk in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). He was led to a cabin so he could speak with his relatives. Then he'll be taken back to the ICU.
