After the longest format of the game, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to bring moderation to the format and started the 50-over format. The new form of the game brought more excitement with the flurry of boundaries and over boundaries.

Pakistan’s former captain and all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, is sitting at the top with the most sixes in ODI cricket.

Here are the top 10 batsmen with the most sixes in ODI cricket

1. Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)

Afridi, who used to open the batting in the 50-over format, is at the top of the list with the most sixes in ODI cricket. In 369 innings, the right-handed batter has smashed 351 over boundaries to grab 8064 runs at an average of 23.57 and a strike rate of 117.

2. Rohit Sharma (India)

The Indian opening batter, Rohit Sharma, is second on the list of most sixes in ODI cricket. He has drilled 11168 runs in 265 innings at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80, with the help of 344 sixes.

3. Chris Gayle (West Indies)

The former left-handed West Indies opening batter, Chris Gayle, was known for his aggressive batting in the format. Opening the batting, he would smash the big shots around the park. He has smashed 10480 runs in 294 innings at an average of 37.83 and a strike rate of 87.19, shouldering 331 sixes.

4. Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka)

The former left-handed Sri Lankan opening batter, Sanath Jayasuriya, is fourth on the list of the most sixes in the format with 270 over boundaries. He nailed 13430 runs in 433 innings at an average of 32.36 and a strike rate of 91.20.

5. MS Dhoni (India)

The former World Cup-winning Indian captain and wicket-keeper batter was renowned for his aggressive batting in the lower order during his prime days. He smacked 229 sixes in 297 innings at an average of 50.57 and a strike rate of 87.56.

6. Eoin Morgan (England)

The former England captain changed the way ODIs were played at the start of the 2010s. Since their failure in the 2015 ODI World Cup, under Morgan’s captaincy, the national side started to play a more aggressive-looking 50-over game, and Morgan was one of the aggressors on the side.

The southpaw smashed 7701 runs in 230 innings at an average of nearly 40 and a strike rate of 91.16, with the help of 220 sixes.

7. AB de Villiers (South Africa)

The former South African captain and the wicket-keeper batter were famous for their aggressive batting. In 218 innings of the ODI format, the right-handed batter has nailed 9577 runs at an average of 53.50 and a strike rate of 101.09, with the help of 204 sixes.

8. Brendon McCullum (New Zealand)

The former New Zealand captain is eighth on the list of most sixes in the 50-over format. He has drilled 6083 runs in 228 innings at an average of 30.41 and a strike rate of 96.37, with the help of 200 over boundaries. Just like Morgan, he also changed the dynamics of the Kiwi side.

9. Sachin Tendulkar (India)

Over the years, in his long career with the ODI format, Sachin Tendulkar has been part of many records. In 452 innings, the right-handed batter has nailed 18426 runs at a strike rate of 86.23, with the help of 195 sixes.

10. Sourav Ganguly (India)

The former left-handed opening batter, Sourav Ganguly, is tenth on the list of the most sixes in the 50-over format. He smashed 11363 runs in 300 innings at an average of 41.02 and a strike rate of 73.70. Ganguly nailed 190 off 190 balls to be part of the list.
