Several franchises made smart buys during the IPL 2025 mega auction. They brought value for the price, either with the bat or ball in hand, contributing immensely to the team in various situations of the game.

Rishabh Pant was the most expensive player of the tournament for a price of INR 27 crore after the southpaw denied the RTM bid of INR 20.75 crore. Some of the youngsters displayed how they could play mature knock early in their career.

Here are the top five most valuable buys of the IPL 2025

5. Shreyas Iyer (PBKS)

The middle-order batter and the captain of the Punjab Kings, Shreyas Iyer, became the second-most expensive player of the league for a price of INR 26.75 crore. He was in the middle of the three-way bidding between Kolkata, Delhi, and Punjab. However, Ricky Ponting, the PBKS coach, had no hesitation in this decision.

Iyer’s captaincy was top-notch for the entire season, as he led the franchise to its first playoffs after 10 seasons.

The right-handed batter is also PBKS’ leading run-getter of the edition so far with 514 runs in 14 innings at an average of 51.40 and a strike rate of 171.90, thanks to five half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 97 runs.

4. Jos Buttler (GT)

Leaving out the former white-ball England captain, Jos Buttler, by the Rajasthan Royals was a wrong and surprising decision. The Gujarat Titans (GT) signed the wicket-keeper batter for INR 15.75 crore.

He came in at number three for the IPL 2022 champions and held the top order with several batting contributions.

The right-handed batter has smashed 538 runs in 13 innings at an average of just below 60 and a strike rate of 163.03, shouldering five fifties at the best score of unbeaten 97 runs against the Delhi Capitals. Buttler’s absence in the playoffs will be a big blow for the side.

3. Priyansh Arya (PBKS)

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought the left-handed opening batter, Priyansh Arya, for INR 3.8 crore. However, he has contributed immensely to the franchise in the opening position of the league.

Arya is one of the best openers of the season and is the third-leading run-getter of the PBKS franchise. He smacked 424 runs in 14 innings at an average of 30.28 and a strike rate of 183.54, shouldering two fifties and one century at the best score of 103 runs.

His century against the Chennai Super Kings came at a time when they were under pressure of losing five wickets inside the first half.

2. Noor Ahmed (CSK)

The left-arm wrist spinner, Noor Ahmed, is the future of the Chennai Super Kings. He picked up several wickets in the middle overs of the innings to create so much pressure on the opposition.

Pandya is currently the second leading wicket-taker for RCB in the IPL 2025 with 15 scalps in 13 innings at an average of under 24 and an economy rate of 8.58. With the bat, he carried the side over the line against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium thanks to a fine knock of 73 runs.
