Imam Ul Haq, the opener for Pakistan, suffered a jaw injury during the third ODI against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui and was taken to the hospital right away. The opener, who had to leave the field immediately following the bizarre incident, took a severe blow.
Imam Ul Haq had a poor batting series, scoring only four runs in the two games he participated in. Despite missing the first game, he participated in the second one in Hamilton, where Jacob Duffy dismissed him after just three off twelve deliveries.
Since Fakhar Zaman's injury during the Champions Trophy, Pakistan has been searching for a reliable starting pair.
Imam Ul Haq suffers a near career-ending injury
The incident occurred when Imam-Ul-Haq struck New Zealand's William O'Rourke in the third over of Pakistan's innings. Imam played with gentle hands before attempting a fast single after the bowler threw a short ball around off stump.
But the ball became lodged in Imam's helmet grill as the throw approached the non-striker's end. Such an incident is very uncommon, but the batter was in so much pain that he immediately took off his helmet.
The Pakistan opener was holding his left jaw in agony when the physiotherapist arrived to help. The batter was unable to stand fully after receiving treatment, so he had to be removed from the field in a buggy ambulance.

Imam Ul Haq had to leave the field immediately because he was unable to keep his equilibrium. As he was carried off the scene on a stretcher, he appeared to be in excruciating pain. Pakistan saw this as a serious setback.
Additionally, it was stated that Imam-Ul-Haq was unable to play due to a concussion. Before leaving the field, he had only managed to score one run off seven balls. Usman Khan, who was unable to have any meaningful impact on the game, took his spot for this encounter.
