Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill’s father Lakhwinder Singh were seen doing ‘Bhangra’ in celebration after India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. Team India secured the victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final clash, and the celebrations off the field grabbed the attention of fans.

On Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India defeated New Zealand by a margin of four wickets. India won the ICC championship for the second time in a row without dropping a game.

In 50 overs, New Zealand amassed 251 runs. With 63 runs off 101 balls, Daryl Mitchell led the Blackcaps in scoring. Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29) and Michael Bracewell (53 off 40)* also contributed significantly.

Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed one wicket, while Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy both claimed two. India got off to a good start thanks to Rohit Sharma (76 off 83) and Shubman Gill (31). But the game was changed by the New Zealand spinners, who took crucial wickets and reduced India to 122/3.

KL Rahul (34), Hardik Pandya (18), Axar Patel (29), and Shreyas Iyer (48) all made vital knocks to keep India in the race with the match hanging in the balance. In the 49th over, Ravindra Jadeja (9) hit a boundary to complete the victory.

Because of his game-winning 76 from 83 balls, Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match. India won the title after successfully chasing down a 252-run target.

In the final, Shubman Gill was out for 31 off 50 balls, with one six. He and Rohit Sharma shared a first-wicket partnership of 105 runs. In five games, Gill amassed 188 runs at a strike rate of 75.5 and an average of 47. He scored 101 runs in the game against Bangladesh, which was his greatest performance to date.

However, during the competition, Rishabh Pant was not allowed to participate in the starting lineup. As the wicketkeeper-batter in the batting order, KL Rahul was chosen over Pant. Rahul scored 34 (33) in the final and 42 (34) in the semifinal, demonstrating his effectiveness with the bat in knockout matches.
