At the beginning of IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) were the most balanced franchise. In their first six encounters of the tournament, they earned five victories and were all placed to qualify for the playoffs of the competition.

However, the second half of the season was a disaster for the Delhi Capitals. Irrespective of the bowling and batting departments, they were not up to the mark in most departments of the game. A few players lost their form, which broke their winning combination.

Their defeat against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, in the absence of their sick captain, Axar Patel, eliminated them from the event.

Meanwhile, going into the season, Delhi retained very few members before the mega auctions. Meanwhile, among their new signings, KL Rahul impressed with the bat and shouldered the responsibility during crunch situations in the game.

Here are the four players Delhi Capitals will retain for IPL 2026

1. Axar Patel

The left-arm spin all-rounder, Axar Patel, who led the Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2025, contributed equally with the bat and ball in hand. In 11 innings, the southpaw cracked 263 runs at an average of 26.30 and a strike rate of 157.48.

Coming into the lower order of the batting unit, he has played a few crucial knocks whenever his side was under pressure. Even in the leadership department, he was in cracking touch, making solid decisions.

Meanwhile, Axar’s bowling wasn’t up to the mark at the start of the season. However, later, he decided to open the attack with the new ball and found assistance off the surface. In 11 innings, the spinner collected five wickets at an economy of 8.47 and will extend his presence for the side.

2. Tristan Stubbs

The lower-order Protea batter, Tristan Stubbs, has smashed runs in the lower order on every occasion. He has clubbed 282 runs in 12 innings of the IPL 2025 at a strike rate of 152.43.

During the victory over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, many fans appreciated KL Rahul’s knock, but Stubb’s composed knock of 41 runs unbeaten was also vital in building the century partnership.

On the other hand, he has the power and understands the right balance between aggression and defense. For the Delhi Capitals, Stubbs will be a bright aspect for the future.

3. KL Rahul

The Indian wicket-keeper and experienced batter, KL Rahul, came into the Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2025. Whether batting in the middle order or the opening slot, the wicketkeeper has come up with a few fabulous performances.

Rahul has drilled 504 runs in IPL 2025 at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 148.67, thanks to three fifties and one century at the best score of unbeaten 112 runs.

Meanwhile, when the management decided to drop Jake Fraser-McGurk, Rahul got the chance to open and added more value to the side.

4. Kuldeep Yadav

The Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav continues to display a cracking performance for the Delhi Capitals. In this IPL 2025, he has picked up 13 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 24.76. His economic rate of below seven has always put pressure on the opposition side’s middle order.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep has a fine knack for bowling in various situations of the game. Delhi won’t get a classical Indian spinner in the auction better than Kuldeep Yadav. Undoubtedly, they will retain the 30-year-old for the IPL 2026.
