Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is walking on a thin rope for qualification in the playoff race. They are currently standing in eighth position in the points table with three victories in nine group-stage encounters at a net run rate of -1.103.

There was hardly any fan or pundit of the game who didn’t predict the Sunrisers to finish among the top four sides. But for the entire season, the franchise has failed to get the right balance between defense and aggression in the competition. They need to win all of their last few games and expect a few games to go in their favor.

SRH will lock horns against the Gujarat Titans on May 02, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Openers- Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma

The opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was a reason for the 2016 champions’ success in the tournament last year. But they have not clicked yet in the new edition.

Either Abhishek has collected runs in one game, or Travis has smashed the balls around the park against the bowlers. But nothing has happened collectively for the sides. The Australian left-handed batter has smashed 261 runs in nine innings at an average of 29 and a strike rate of nearly 160.

Abhishek batted well only once against the Punjab Kings at home when he drilled 141 runs in the big-run chase. But he has added just 99 runs in the last eight innings at an average of around 12.

Middle order- Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klassen (wk.), Aniket Verma, Kamindu Mendis, Nitish Kumar Reddy

With a wrong decision, the pressure was huge on Ishan Kishan to deliver with the bat. His 44 runs in 34 balls may sound mediocre at a strike rate of 129.41, shouldering on five boundaries and one six. But his knock was important for them to stay in the chase.

Aniket Verma made 19 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 100, shouldering on a couple of over boundaries. The wicket-keeper batter, Heinrich Klassen, got seven runs in eight balls and is the leading run-getter for the SRH side this year with 288 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 156.52 with one half-century.

Kamindu Mendis’ knock of an unbeaten 32 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 145.45 was essential for the team getting over the winning line on a slow surface, losing wickets regularly. Nitish Reddy, who was coming at four in the last few games, got demoted to seven after a string of low performances.

Bowlers- Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Zeeshan Ansari, Mohammed Shami (Impact)

The SRH captain, Pat Cummins, led from the front with figures of 2/21 in four overs at an economy rate of 5.25, while Jaydev Unadkat suited his variation perfectly for figures of 2/21 in 2.5 overs.

Harshal Patel, who dropped a crucial catch off Ravindra Jadeja earlier in the game, gave away 28 runs in four overs for an economy rate of seven, besides picking up four wickets in the contest. The two spinners for SRH also used the conditions well to bandage the flow of runs.
