The three-time runners-up of IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), started their journey with two successive victories against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) away from home.

They hope to continue the same performance in the upcoming encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against the Gujarat Titans.

RCB’s bowling display was quite clinical in the opening game. The spinners handled the middle overs with a low run rate and successive wickets in the middle phase. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return, it looks more lethal with the new ball in hand.

Openers- Virat Kohli and Phil Salt

Virat Kohli and Phil Salt’s opening stands have been successful so far for RCB in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. In the first game of the season against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they put up 95 runs for the opening stand in just 8.3 overs.

Kohli drilled 59 runs in 36 balls, shouldering on four boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 163.89. Salt, on the other hand, has successfully replaced Faf du Plessis from the last season. In the first game against KKR, Salt cracked 56 runs in just 31 balls at a strike rate of 180.65, shouldering on nine boundaries and a couple of sixes.

The England batter continued the same show even against Chennai to put up 32 runs in just 16 balls to provide them the vital and early momentum in the fixture.

Middle order- Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David

Devdutt Padikkal struggled for RCB in the very first game, but he used his power brilliantly in the very next game. Against Ravindra Jadeja’s left-arm spin bowling, he clubbed two boundaries and as many over boundaries to put 27 runs in 14 balls. That was an important knock for the southpaw. He helped Kohli a lot in the middle.

Captain Rajat Patidar used his power brilliantly against the spinners. He got a few lives against Chennai, who dropped so many catches.

But the right-handed batter used the opportunities brilliantly to nail 51 runs in 32 balls. Liam Livingstone has not come to the party yet for RCB, but will hope to be there at the home venue.

Tim David was the biggest game-changer in the last contest against the Super Kings. After they made just one run in the 19th over, the Australian lower-order batter smashed Sam Curran for three successive sixes to remain undefeated on 22 runs in eight balls at a strike rate of 275.

Jitesh Sharma also hopes to stand by his words and provide them with a late finish with the bat.

Bowlers: Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma (Impact sub)

Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets in the opening clash against Kolkata to turn the game in RCB’s favor. But he didn’t bowl much. The Chennai side had at least one left-handed batter in the middle till the end.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, after missing the very first game, returned against Chennai and continued with a superb powerplay bowling of 1/20 in three overs at an economy rate of 6.70. Josh Hazlewood has been a huge, impactful player for the franchise with 5/43 in eight overs across two encounters.

Yash Dayal has taken the role of the death overs perfectly, using the yorkers and the slower balls. Suyash Sharma is the impact player of the side and hopes to repeat the same dominance.
