The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are blown away in IPL 2025. They are already out of the competition with just two victories in the nine group-stage encounters at a net run rate of -0.625.

The inaugural champions will hope to see their captain, Sanju Samson, getting back on the side as the regular wicket-keeper and leader. Rajasthan has done a decent job with the ball inside the powerplay, but their batting department is under question.

RR will face the Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 01, 2025, at home, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

IPL 2025: RR Playing XI vs MI- Match 50

Openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Yashasvi Jaiswal is the seventh leading run-getter of the season so far with 356 runs in nine innings at an average of just below 40 and a strike rate of 148.95, having on four half-centuries at the best score of 75 runs.

Jaiswal cracked 49 runs in their last ball in just 19 balls, thanks to seven boundaries and three sixes. One of those three sixes came on the very first ball of the competition against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, meanwhile, got 16 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 133.33.

If Rajasthan’s management wants, then they can have the wicket-keeper batter come down at number three in the batting line-up. The inaugural champions will look to have someone experienced in the middle order.

Middle order- Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Shubham Dubey/Sanju Samson

The RR wicket-keeper batter, Dhruv Jurel, is the second leading run-getter of the side with 238 runs in nine innings at an average of nearly 40 and a strike rate of 150.63, thanks to the best score of 70 runs. But he and Shimron Hetmyer have failed to win the last two games at the death overs.

Riyan Parag, the stand-in captain of the side, has clubbed 234 runs in nine innings at an average of just under 30 and a strike rate of more than 150, with the best score of unbeaten 43 runs.

Samson’s experience will be important in the middle order, having scored 224 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 143.58, thanks to one half-century at the best score of 66 runs. Nitish Rana has collected 204 runs in nine innings at an average of 25.50 and a strike rate of 168.59.

Once the RR lower order again gets a chance to chase down the score, the pressure will be huge. However, if they decide to bat first without any pressure and put a good score on the board, that could prove to be a good decision.

Bowlers: Wanindu Hasaranga, Tushar Deshpande, Jofra Archer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Sandeep Sharma (Impact)

Wanindu Hasaranga ended with a decent bowling figure of 1/30 in four overs at an economy rate of 7.50 for RR against the Bengaluru side. Sandeep Sharma was bashed for 45 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 11.25, and that has put pressure on the pace so much in the last five overs of the inning.
